Week 25: Bikes and Back to Business
I decided to take full advantage of the season by purchasing my brand new mountain bike. I was with a cycling group many many moons ago and used to use their bikes on rides plus limited space was a major factor at home so couldn't really keep one here. But, I was so adamant that I wanted my own bike this time around. Turns out I do actually have space as during the lockdown I cleaned out my little casa and gave so much stuff away in charity that I ended up making some space in the storage which was full of stuff ‘I thought I needed. It just shows once you make your mind up to a particular problem the brain will always find a solution, but you have to be persistent and make that decision. I knew I was done with hiring the bike in the past so when I made that conscious choice in my head the rest just followed. This is very important in business; say ‘yes’ to yourself and see how the shift happens. I can't stress enough that the biggest investment is yourself and your mental well being. You may be facing certain dilemmas, just hop on your bike, let nature do its thing and you'll be amazed at how you approach your issues or even solve them.
Anyway, It's back to business as usual, slowly but surely places are starting to open up again. I'm so glad I used this quiet period to catch up on my personal life (as in health, home, hobbies and happiness (yes I said happiness, its important to) etc). I wasn't getting much luck in the business side of things so why sit and fret? Instead I focused on all the behind the scene stuff like organising my home to be more functional so when work does pick up I'm ready to go. Been feeling guilty for some time, as always feeding my family processed crap and take-aways! I used this time to treat my family to wholesome, nourishing foods which were prepared with love and blessings. I have improved and realised with effective planning, being proactive and a little patience one can work on their business and run a home. Now that I've dropped the guilt I am in a much better place to concentrate on my profession.
I am getting a few emails back from estate agents, vendors and finance managers so the shift is happening. I have been reading a lot on ‘deal sourcing’ and ‘buy-to-let’ to get myself familiarised with the concept. They are two independent strategies which seem straightforward enough and you can also combine the two. People have fallen out of love with buy-to-lets in a quest for fancier more sophisticated strategies. You have to see what feels right for you. I didn’t like the idea of doing virtual viewings as for a newbie I really wanted to learn on the job. I have called a few agencies in the past weeks leaving my details and now they have started getting back to me. I have put in a request to start-up the viewings (being Corona safe of course) depending on which vendors are okay with that. So it seems my calendar is slowly starting to look decent again. I have done some background reading on the subject matter and all that's needed is to just get out there.
