Week 63: Mothering Sunday

Opulent Diaries Picture Rozinas Diary .jpeg

It’s Mothers’s Day and in most parts of the world children of all ages will be celebrating their mothers with gifts and gestures. But how about those who never became mothers or perhaps grieving the loss of a child. This is something close to my heart. To those forgotten I write  you a poem for there is healing in words:

From My Sister's Lips

Mother's Day is approaching, I hear you cry. You ask Maryum (Mother Mary) the one chosen above all women. ‘Why me?...’ ‘Well, why not you?’ ‘If not you, then who?’ ‘Surely, you do not wish this upon another sister who shall flounder with the weight of this burden and God gives the greatest battle to his strongest soldiers’.

“Don't want to be a soldier, I just want to be a _ _ _ _ _ _”

From 'I' another sister; You've never spoken to me but I hear you. You've never seen me but that doesn't mean I'm not here. You've never met me but I know you.

I'm sorry there's no birthdays, buggy walks, bubblegum or ball throws.

I'm sorry how there's never any playtime, splash-time, story-time or sleepy time.

I'm sorry how you die a million deaths each time you attend a Baby Shower, a Christening or a School Play.

I'm sorry how you've missed those wonderful ‘firsts’ that everyone shares; 1st steps, a tiny fall or the 1st day at school.

I'm sorry your womb was left empty. Its pangs so strong that its ripples reach my side of the shore for each time you hear that 3 lettered word _ _ _.

I'm sorry your name was written on that list too. If I could change it you know I would...

A promise from this sister's lips. You may not have been the chosen one but I see a bit of Maryum in all of you. On the longest day when the finishing line is here. I will meet and greet everyone of you with the prettiest flower garland and shiniest medal of honour. For I wait in great anticipation. Mother or not you will always be my Sister and I choose you...

I know this blog is about property but one must remember life is happening all around us. Let’s understand such calamities that can be faced by many, yet life continues.

This morning I was greeted by a lovely letter from my neighbour. A formal letter of complaint issues by East Lindsey Council. Second warning and I have already posted on social media about this. How many of you have had trouble from the nieghbour? We have been ordered by the city council to limit noisy work within the normal hours of 9-6 on weekdays and half day on a Saturday. Work carried out between 8am to 8pm is regarded as being a nuisance to locals. Surely it's better for all concerned that we get the work done sooner rather than later.. I mean why prolong the pain? I have since apologised to the residents and offered chocolates and dinner but I'm afraid my efforts will be misinterpreted that I'm trying to buy them off with money, either way I lose. However, it's important not to lose focus and that the house is fully restored.

“Only a little longer Mr neighbour, I promise to keep away”.

I came with a bang but shall leave softly with a beautiful dwelling that’ll stand tall and proud next to yours. Plus each time you enter your home it's not going to be such an eye saw next door.
