Week 12: Busy or Productive?
Hello everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic week. Wishing everybody peace, health and wealth. I'm having one of those sinking feelings where you think you're doing all the right things yet, can't help but wonder if you really are... I am 3 months in, April is looming and it has dawned on me that no real investments have been secured. I thought I was making good use of my time by starting this blog and introducing podcasting to the mix that this should suffice in the absence of a deal and priorities will shift once a live project is approved. I have been extremely busy these past 12 weeks but the real question lies, have I been productive? You see, there is a difference, you could in effect be both or even none. Although the primary business is ‘property’ you will find a lot of your time is zapped by related stuff, not necessarily the ‘buying’ or the ‘selling’. It just hacks into productivity so you have to consistently evaluate and be ready to top and tail all the way though.
A bit like the Japanese method of ‘Kaizen' (continuous improvement). Podcasting gives the business some depth and of course we’re always having to stay abreast of all the changes in order to deliver the content. Blogging on the other hand keeps you grounded. It tells you how far you have come and documents all the steps you have taken to get there. One can read the material here and apply its teachings to get an even faster result. You will indirectly be supporting someone without even realising. Plus it improves your own writing and gives you the confidence to write more complex subjects. Don’t let it bother you that you have no real deals to talk about at this stage. Readers will appreciate your honesty and transparency. Am I right?...A single truth is better than a 100 lies. I’m not a fan of the ‘fake it till you make it’ concept. Everyone had to start somewhere, no shame in that. Learn to enjoy the journey, the highs and the lows it just means you're alive, if there are no spikes then you are basically dead…
Brexit/Coronavirus
When you think things can’t get any worse then Brexit happens. People including friends are heading back and leaving the country, strange things happening in the property market as people out of fear are doing all kinds of irregular or making out of character decisions. The true implications of Brexit will unfold slowly over time. It's too early to speculate but I think this one is going to hit us hard and cripple the real hard working people of this society. Those on top will remain ‘untouchable’ as it is them who drove this to a waking reality. The dust has not even settled and yet we are hit with another storm. The ‘Corona Storm’, boy this came so unexpected! So where does this leave me and many others? Well, lots of uncertainty, scarcity and powerlessness. I’m not able to do any viewings, attend events or courses or meet investors for potential deals. Basically, stifled my business! However, I am not on my own on this nor am I going to dwell on this as scaremongers are doing a pretty good job of it. Instead I am going to focus on the positive, because I want to help not hinder everyone. Check out the following:
At Work:
Set up your workstation at home and crack on (oh please don’t say you are unable to work from home...don’t make me slap you) There is always something you can do
Conduct lots of research, evaluate current practices and see what improvements can be made
Strategise & Plan
Social Media Marketing (I always fall behind with this, so now is a good time)
Podcast, blog, vlog and slog lol; the world's your oyster!
Make valuable connections on Linkedin, make use of free Webinars and Zoom calls with your (work) homies……….you get the idea!
At Home:
You're always complaining about no time with family, well time has been carved for you now so make the most of it
Another favourite rant ‘I don't have time to exercise’ hmmm...
I don't have time to cook
I don't have time to read
I don't have time to rest
I don't have time for gardening
If you are from the ‘People of the Book’ then read some religious scriptures, if it is spiritualism then meditate, Just do something!
Can you see where I am going with this? Guys stop whining in times of crisis our forefathers were called to war you are only asked to stay in-doors and indulge on Netflix; is it really that bad? Of course not.
