Week 54: Annual Reviews and a bit of TikTok for fun

At the beginning of the year, I wanted to have a few annual checks in order. First being our website and the second our social media accounts. As we’ve only been in business for a year there was not so much we could do to our website. Upon careful review I have decided we could do with adding a ‘Resources’ page. It's basically a ‘how to’ and/or step-by-step guide to something more extensive. We didn't want to scream sales nor did we want to clutter our landing page with unnecessary jargon. The resources page as the name suggests is for educational purposes and consists of material that readers can go back to or use to increase their knowledge base.

For example; There is a guide there on how to apply for the government based bounce back loan with a direct link to their website. There is also a detailed guide on how to apply for the government backed ‘Green Deal Scheme’, together with a direct link to their application form. Even tips on  ‘Canva’ a tool on how you can create beautiful artwork for your digital marketing. 2021 will see a lot of useful property related stuff here, be sure to check in from time to time.

Second review: our social media accounts. We have been thinking of joining the growing community of TikTok. The fastest growing app and downloads which have surpassed Instagram (IG) and Facebook (FB) with a like to like comparison. Upon doing some research it does state that more than 50% of its users are of generation Z (young people between the ages of 8-23). Now, before I lose all your attention here I'm just going to give you a quick history lesson as to why you may not want to overlook this particular stat. Best projections are often past performances and if you can remember Facebook/Instagram all started out with the youngsters before they worked their way up to Millennials, Generation X and even some Baby boomers. When Instagram first came out everyone thought it would be teenagers showcasing their selfies. No one would anticipate that it will take the visual industries by storm; think bakers, travel, food and fashion.

Another no brainer is this enormous thirst for everything ‘instant’. One click pay, swipe and contact-less. Consumers just don't have the time so these short 60 second videos really fit the bill. We as a society are just getting so impatient. I don't know if it's really a good thing but I do know if you don't move along with the times then I don't really want to suffer the same fate as our pals the dinosaurs. I'm going to take this opportunity and join the fast train cause it seems that's the way everything is heading. So why not jump on board, get the advantage of familiarising yourself with this international app and  start building your fan base to get ahead of your competition. It's just food for thought. Of course TikTok may not suit the very foundation of your business which is fine but it's always good to keep an open mind when it comes to anythings technology and digital. Wishing you all a great year ahead.

What reviews have you made so far? What changes are you adding or perhaps omitting?
