Week 92: The Great Agenda
Screed: completed but, replaced with external slabs. This can now be removed from the list.
Radiators & Bathrooms: 4/10/21 Romero manages x4 lads. We purchased regular radiators from Screwfix Lincoln on a click & collect basis. Boiler (and parts) a second collection from Wosely Lincoln. ManoMano designer radiators to be delivered within a 5 day window so lots of begging to try and arrange it for a set day (4th October 21). We somehow manage to do this only to be let down again by our project manager who cheekily mentions if we can rearrange for the next day, when he specifically told us his plumbers will be going down today.
Kitchen Fit: Imran to populate once screed done. Week commencing 4th October Kitchen delivery including appliances all from Howdens. Prior to delivery liaise with Andy Ashby (Howdens Rep) confirm appliance, open credit account, check credit account and pay on the morning of delivery. But, before we could do this we will have to send a quotation over to Ascot Finance so they can release the funds as per development contract. Fingers crossed they don’t delay. Morning of delivery, the bad news is that we can't open a credit account in time but we can make payment via credit card if worse comes to worse. Flipping hell now they don’t accept American Express!...urgh
Stairs & Skirting; Imran sort with carpenter: Stairs have been ordered and should be on site for when the valuer arrives but won't be erected in time unfortunately. They have sent a date and I am so glad it will be with us on the 15th of October in time for the valuer’s visit so even if he has to climb the ladder to go upstairs at least he can see the flatpack staircase ready to go in. Just one problem though, the joiner has given the wrong measurement so stairs are not in line with upstairs landing. How bosh is that going to look? As of yet no solution and we don’t have time to reorder so we have to improvise on the day. I am expecting a miracle.
Paint finish: Imran to populate once doors are in, date is pending as waiting on internal doors.
Doors: Imran to populate once screed done. Week commencing 11th October (estimate) x10 internal doors and x1 front door. They have to be fire doors so it is more expensive and less choice. Got happy as our local Howdens was holding a single Trade Day Sale on the 4th (buy 1 get 2nd half price) on all doors. Was thinking of purchasing but sizes are a miss so I couldn't bulk buy. Hence, realised it won’t be financially viable to hire a van and drive down if it wasn’t all ten. Very time consuming task and didn’t even succeed in the end.
Windows/Front door: Imran to sort windows when floor is dry to enable supplier to measure up patio and upstairs windows. Lock change on the current front & back door, (we have two front doors). We have received confirmation that front door doesn’t have to be composite but a wooden one will surfice. Windows officially on order (1st October) everything other than sash windows could possibly be done by the end of the month but not in time for when the valuer arrives. I will show invoice to valuer on the day as proof of purchase and intent. Will back this up with photos as well.
Plaster: Romero to manage window reveals, can't arrange dates until the windows are in so some time in the future. This is already paid for so I hope he doesn’t spring another nasty upon us given his track record, (project manager) just in case you're wondering.
Carpet or LVT: Imran to populate once the house is almost ready. No LVT just carpets as the budget wont allow for this and carpets can go straight onto the lounge as it is. Aiming somewhere between the 11th-15th October, at least the valuer will witness the carpets rolling out the van. I have no idea how they will get it on the first floor without stairs...Lawsuit just waiting to happen...
Electrics: Romero to update plus Callum (the electrician) could possibly go in from Wednesday onwards (8th October 21) as the kitchen should be in by then. Have to call Western Power to re-connect, a complete nightmare to deal with…I will discuss in a separate blog.
