Opulent Diaries

Hello everyone! Hope you're well, all snuggled up in-doors and keeping safe. I've decided to beat the lockdown by becoming a student again. You see I'm one of those ants in your pants type of people that can’t sit still just have to do something. Personal development is something that has always remained important for me. It's down to us to take priority in order to better ourselves, by learning, as the world is in a constant state of flux. What gave me this idea?

The creation of the logo took me back a few years to nostalgia sitting in my art room and with every stroke of my brush creating life on canvas. You know that student who’s artwork will be recalled at assembly, work sent off at junior competitions, portraits still in archive.......well that wasn’t me haha! It did remind me of art though and It took ages. Really underestimated this task. Like always I didn’t have a clue what to go for other than my usual what, I don’t like. I knew I wanted different and not conventional. That meant no pictures of houses, buildings, sloped roofs (still partly a house) or a set of keys; a single key all this just echoed real estate to me. Then it was the other category of wealth creation since many people use property as a tool to get there. These images were too financy (I know, I know, not a word...)

To come to a close (in the light of the epidemic) the month did however, end on a positive. We got our first interview set and recorded. Couldn't go live at this stage as it was too early on and we wanted to trial it out first. The radio station was kind enough to let us use their facility for free. Equipment, editing, and support of the works! With the exception of: we had to purchase a wide angle lense for our smart phone to capture the studio during recording. Then all we had to do was bring our good self along with our guest. Interview requests were sent out and the first confirmed email accepted. Such a delight when people want to get involved, have their say and help each other out.

Hello everyone, I hope you all had a fantastic week. Wishing everybody peace, health and wealth. I'm having one of those sinking feelings where you think you're doing all the right things yet, can't help but wonder if you really are... I am 3 months in, April is looming and it has dawned on me that no real investments have been secured. I thought I was making good use of my time by starting this blog and introductincing podcasting to the mix that this should suffice in the absence of a deal and priorities will shift once a live project is approved. I have been extremely busy these past 12 weeks but the real question lies, have I been productive?

With the 1st campaign completed and a deadline fast approaching I wasn't about to take any chances when it came to campaign no 2. After my love hate relationship with the envelope I decided to scrap the whole thing and go for a postcard strategy. Again me being me, I wanted it to be different and I wanted it to; you guessed it…...stand out! Needed to put that thinking cap on and realised Mother’s Day was round the corner so why not use this as my caption to break the ice then bigno…..tell them all about this brilliant business and how we can help. I am not a graphic designer so with a bit of a steep learning curve I eventually got there with the help of Canva. No she is not a person as it sounds like one of those foreign names of a lovely friend you once knew who used to rescue you everytime you found yourself in digital deep waters.

Who would've thought that envelopes were such a bummer? I expected to pick these up from my local stationers and they didn't stock the ones I was after. I thought okay not a problem, i’ll just pick them up from the Tesco/Post Office on the way back from work. They didn't stock them either! This is getting a bit ridiculous now. Surely WHSmiths will, but you guessed it….nope.

First of all I would like to get off my chest something in regards to week 3. Not sure if you remember I had a fall out with a significant person which over the weeks did impact my work. The lack of interaction with this person has somewhat impacted my state. In their absence I threw myself into work trying to bury my head in the paperwork. I vowed not to speak to that someone (for a few short weeks) but did however cave in as love is a much stronger emotion than hate.

Last week we had so much fun launching our brand new podcast to air every fortnight on a Saturday. The series will consist of lots of hot topics within the industry and boast a mix of thought provoking content to give a more rounded approach to learning. The heart of the matter will always be property and the usual stresses that one can expect along with the opportunity to explore deeper avenues such as ‘self fulfilling prophecy’ or ‘the third eye’. Hmmm…. I hear you murmur! what’s this got to do with property? Well you have to tune in to find out. We are taking property and giving it a holistic approach by looking at the science behind it. Ever thought why some people do better in this area than others?

Wow! where do I even begin to start? I named this week ‘ the podcast’ because that’s exactly what it was about. We have been toing and froing with this as to whether or not to include this into our marketing mix. Bearing in mind 1 or 2 members have no experience of this whatsoever. But, boss man had some experience with radio (many moons ago) but things have changed since but i’m not about to argue. Let’s get all the negatives out the way first then we can concentrate on the positive.

I knew I wanted some kind of web presence. so let's just have a re-cap. I chose to go for this business, formed a company emails to go, name, colour, logo all sorted. So why hold back with a website, plenty of profitable businesses running without the backing of a webpage. Is it necessary? Will it benefit me? well earlier if you remember when I said I was doing this 100% so I guess the website was non negotiable. This is why I made that decision in the first place so every step I take I don’t have to have a mental battle of shall I, shall I not? Given this day and age not being on the world-wide spectrum to save a few lousy bucks was just not worth it. 

I cannot believe it’s february and the first month is already over! I can’t afford to run behind this early on. A quick recap on last month where I discussed my plan, unforeseen problems, along with problematic thoughts. This month I have decided to write about the more practical side and the all important set up of a business. I wanted to mention this quite early on so one can see the entire process of this Rent-to Rent journey. Admittedly, what I am about to mention had already commenced during Autumn last year (1st Sep/ish-end of Xmas) thus, to give you an indication of time scales.

It’s full on winter blues as the hype over Xmas and New Year’s unfortunately is still running through my veins and i’m struggling to knock off the sluggishness. Plus my plan to go running early mornings, well...fingers crossed should materialise before the weekend is up. So much for soaking up all that new years vibe and brimming with energy. But I always lag behind for some reason so no doubt I’ll be bouncing off the walls by this time next week. So the new year began with the not so fun task of getting the car M.O.T’d, taxed & serviced.
